Welcome to The Association Strategist (or... what happens when you think about why Association's do what they do waaaay too much)

If you've stumbled upon this, well, apologies in advance. I've been an assocition executive, both on the non-profit side and the for-profit vendor side, for the better part of two decades and these days, when I read industry news I find myself wondering -- are we all taking crazy pills? (IYKYK)

Reading anytihng about anything these days comes with some risk of falling down a rabbit hole. But when you look at what happens in organizations, non-profit or otherwise, there's always something hidden, always some reason that some group came to the decision and got us to THAT. And some of the THAT seems... well crazy! (I'm not judging...)

Sometimes we can figure out what's going on and sometimes we can't. But in our ever evolving space, I'm curious enough to try to think through what's happening in hopes of illuminating some of the ways people make decisions (good, bad or meh) and apply strategy.

So.... What is This?

I'm not saying I know it all or could do it better, but I am very curious about what people do and why. Taking a deeper dive into some industry news to analyze, consider, ruminate and be generally chatty about key moves and stories in the Association/non-profit space seems like a fun hobby, right? It's basically just analysis and discussion. I won't waste your time with crap that doesn't matter and I'll always try to leave you with something useful.

Let's Take a Ride

We spend a lot of time these days hopping from thing to thing like rabbits or reacting to our phones every 10 seconds. Let's take a step back and ponder. I think the trip will be worth it.

My goal is to send this out newsletter style... at some point. So subscribe if you want to start seeing it in your inbox. Again, no BS, soliciations or any of that kind of crap.
